The first ever CP Women’s Leadership Summit was held in Regina on Tuesday.
The event gathered several women to speak to those in attendance, including key-note speaker Hayley Wickenheiser.
Wickenheiser says it was a great experience for like-minded women to gather before an important golf tournament.
“Maybe people also will leave a little more inspired and energized, sometimes when you get a chance to just be around like-minded people, it’s a fun environment,” Wickenheiser said. “At the same time, it’s promoting golf. This is the first time this event has been in Saskatchewan, and in Regina.”
Wickenheiser says while this was the first women’s summit, it surely won’t be the last.
“The growth and the popularity of women’s sport is on the rise and female athletes in general, and I think that the desire to want to promote this in the business community and get women in the business community connected to top professional sports, it’s really important for the survival of both.”
The women’s summit was held as part of the CP Women’s Open, as competition opens on Thursday.
