Regina-based Farm Credit Canada is contributing 1.5 million dollars to 84 rural community group projects this year.
Vice president Barry Watson says community improvement projects receive between 5 and 25 thousand dollars across Canada.
For example, he says 25 thousand dollars was awarded for an indigenous youth project in Northern Saskatchewan.
Another project was 25 thousand dollars to the McLean Fire department for firehall renovations and to adapt a truck to a first responder unit.
Watson says the municipalities and non-profit organizations can apply for funds for improvement projects like fire equipment, skating rinks and energy efficiency upgrades.
The FCC Agrispirit fund supports projects in communities across Canada with a population below 150 thousand.
The next application period opens in spring 2019.
Over the past 15 years, the fund has supported almost 12 hundred projects worth more than 13 million dollars.
