Shannon Friesen says many pastures are in poor shape because of a lack of rainfall over the last two months.
She expects many livestock producers will be scrambling to secure feed supplies for the coming winter.
Friesen says pastures and hay crops continue to decline due to lack of moisture.
She says pasture conditions are rated 17 percent good, 28 percent fair, 29 percent poor and 26 percent very poor.
Friesen says there continue to be reports of grass and stubble fires because of extremely hot dry weather.
She urges producers to take precautions to avoid a wildfire on their property.
Friesen suggests farmers have fire extinguishers, tillage equipment and a water truck available when harvesting.
