Saskatchewan’s highways minister is apologizing for a major traffic jam just north of Chamberlain this weekend on Highway 11 caused by roadside construction.
Many motorists were left hot under the collar after having to wait for over an hour to get through some construction work being done on the highway this weekend.
In a statement, Lori Carr says the traffic congestion that resulted is unacceptable and will not happen again.
Carr says her officials have been instructed to work with the contractor to make sure these delays do not happen again, even if it means ceasing construction entirely to let high volumes of traffic through.
Highway 11 is the main connector between Regina and Saskatoon and as one would expect on a weekend, there is a lot of traffic on the road.
While the Highway Hotline map for the area did indicate there was construction on the highway, there was no indication of possible delays.
