RCMP in Shellbrook are saying a reported attempted child abduction was a simple misunderstanding.
Police began an investigation after receiving a report, that an 11-year-old girl was the victim of an attempted abduction at a business in the northern Saskatchewan community.
A 61-year-old man was initially identified as a suspect, but after more investigations, including watching a surveillance video, it was determined the man wasn’t in the area and the attempted abduction never occurred.
RCMP wanted to inform the public of the outcome after false information began making rounds on social media.
Shellbrook is about 45 kilometers west of Prince Albert.
