We were out at our first 620 CKRM Country Cookout of the year at the Schmidt farm last night just outside of Glenavon. As usual, we were enjoying some great food from Peg’s Kitchen while the very talented JJ Voss provided the entertainment. I love going to these events. It seems that everyone at these cookouts listens faithfully to the radio station. They can always tell you, verbatim, something that they heard you say on the radio that struck a chord with them, no matter how long ago it might have been. Now, that’s a listener.
One of our listeners last night told me he reads my blog first thing every morning. Sometimes he reads it at the kitchen table over a cup of coffee and sometimes he reads it while he’s sitting on the john. I hope he’s got a cellphone. I’d hate to think he’s got a computer set up in his bathroom! That might make for some tricky maneuvering.
Maybe you don’t read this blog while you’re sitting on the john. Maybe you’re sitting in a dark closet right now waiting for your girlfriend’s husband to go to work. Maybe you’re making whoopee when you suddenly remember, halfway through, that you forgot to read my blog that morning. Maybe you’re sitting in the boss’s office waiting to get reprimanded for something you did wrong. Maybe you’re just about to drop that scalpel onto someone’s chest to perform open heart surgery. My point is, it doesn’t matter where you are when you get the urge to read my daily blog. Go ahead, read it!
I appreciate everyone who reads this silly thing that I’m obligated to write every day. It’s nice to know that someone actually might be interested in what I have to say on any given day.
If you’ll excuse me now, I’m just going to grab my cellphone and head into the washroom to read Gloria’s blog.
