The city of Regina is looking at landscaping issues.
At the latest meeting of city council on Monday, August 27th, council voted to pass a motion to have administration study regulations for private properties. The motion was passed with a 10-1 majority vote.
Councillor Bob Hawkins, who was the one who brought forth the motion, said this is a particular issue in Regina’s new subdivisions.
“In Harbour Landing, and I know as well in Greens on Gardiner, there are very tall weeds there,” he said. “They go to seed, they’re a nuisance to people who do keep up their lawns.”
A report regarding this is scheduled to be delivered at the end of the year, and Hawkins is hopeful it acknowledges this problem.
“I hope that the report suggests some kind of minimal standards to keep weeds down in yards on on properties. And thirdly, I hope it suggests ways of enforcing those standards.”
