Jovon Johnson is a community oriented guy.
That was on display again on Saturday, as the Saskatchewan Roughriders star defensive back was at a north Regina Staples location, taking part in an initiative that raises money and school supplies for local children.
“It’s always a great time to be able to give back and to show that you care to the community,” he said.
One thing Johnson also noted was demonstrating to kids the importance of education.
“Ultimately, they are our future. So, we have to make sure that they have everything they need and that’s our main goal and purpose of this.”
This isn’t the first community event he’s done this summer, having hosted a BBQ for Lyme Disease.

For Johnson, being a community force is part of his job as a professional.
“Give back in any way that we can and just try to make people happy and make people smile,” he noted. “That’s why we do it.”
