It’s a day most kids loathe, but one most parents very much like.
The bell is ringing, signifying the return of school.
Regina Police spokesperson Tamara Sentes said to make sure all goes well, know that the streets around schools will be a little more active today, so be aware of your surroundings.
“We encourage motorists to be aware of the increased traffic. School buses, kids on the street, kids on bikes. Just be aware of crosswalks and watch out for pedestrians and stopped school buses.”
Additionally, school resource officers are in place at Regina schools, and they have an impact that can be measured.
“They’re in the schools. They know the teachers, the students and the administration,” said Sentes. “It’s just that one step closer to being connected with them.”
