Even without the calendar, the signs of fall are all around us. There seem to be more and more leaves accumulating on our back deck daily. The kids are now back in school for another year. The boys of summer are turning in to the boys of fall and my Blue Jays won’t be playing past the end of this month. The Regina Pats are already underway with training camp and it won’t be long before the NHL follows suit. At least things are looking more positive for my Leafs than they have in a long, long time. That might make the winter a little more bearable.
I was out in the backyard playing with Max yesterday wondering just how much time I have left before I have to start dismantling my yard and putting everything away in the shed for another winter. I hate doing that. It’s like life just stops back there for 6 months. I just hate winter. I spent 6 winters in the Caribbean and I see nothing wrong with Santa showing up in a swimsuit on a 30 degree Christmas morning. I hate it when people say “It’s just not Christmas without snow.” Trust me, snow or not, it’s still Christmas.
I can’t believe that I used the word Christmas 3 times in that last paragraph. Uh oh, now I’ve mentioned it 4 times.
How many sleeps until, well, you know? I don’t want to mention that word again this morning.
