Back to school for some students, may be a stressful time.
At Saskatchewan Polytechnic, students can receive any help or services they need to cope with that back to school or just everyday stress.
Manager of Accessibility Services and Interim Manager of counseling for Saskatchewan Polytechnic Debra Kempe-Koo said there are plenty of options for students available, should they need it.
“Counseling, accessibility services, health services, specific services for indigenous peoples, recreations and intercultural services.”
Kempe-Koo said there will be a lot more awareness of mental health supports this year.
“We’re definitely putting our face out there during welcome week. We’re going to have booths. Many of these different services will be out there and we’re going to start those conversations. We are also going to have some select workshops in the classrooms and sometimes that reduces the stigma of mental health. If there’s a face to it, some students feel a bit more willing to come forward.”
