Six or seven years ago I went for a physical and got an all-clear from my doctor, except for one thing. Apparently my cholesterol level was through the roof. So the doctor put me on some cholesterol pills, told me to take an aspirin every morning, and change my diet. Done! Since then my cholesterol level is right where it should be. Half of the people I know are on these darn pills!
A few months ago my doctor checked my blood pressure and found it to be extremely high, which was odd, seeing as the last time he checked, six months prior, it seemed to be right where it should be. The funny thing is, I didn’t do anything different between check-ups, so the spike was a mystery to me. Again, he prescribed blood pressure pills, told me to cut down on my coffee intake, and watch the amount of salt I eat. Done! Blood pressure is where it should be now.
A couple of months ago I noticed I was getting a plantar wart on the bottom of my foot. I had one a couple of years ago and the doctor sprayed some liquid nitrogen on it and within a couple of months it was gone. That time the plantar wart didn’t hurt, but this wart is being a regular pain in the, well, foot! This one hurts enough that I’ve actually altered my walking. I put the weight on the outside edge of my foot so I can at least make it from point A to point B without wincing every time I put weight on my foot.
I’ve got an appointment in a couple of weeks to rectify the situation.
Every time I talk to my 89 year-old father in Lethbridge I hear about the aches and pains that come with getting older. Now I know exactly what he’s talking about!
To be 18 again!
