A trial for former Saskatchewan Roughriders defensive back Justin Cox was to begin today, but it never materialized after he pleaded guilty to a charge of assault causing bodily harm.
Sentencing will happen at a later date.
Cox was arrested after two separate incidents in August of 2017. Regina police said a woman had called them from hospital saying she had been physically assaulted by Cox with an employee at a local business alleging Cox pointed a gun at her.
Cox had been let go from the Riders earlier in 2017 after being charged with assault in what was a domestic dispute, but he was found not guilty.
Despite that, the CFL said no other team in the league could sign him
