Our third place finisher in the 620 CKRM Proudly Saskatchewan Showcase has certainly been busy since the competition earlier this summer. Tayler Tluchah hails from a farm near Gronlid, SK about two hours northeast of Saskatoon. Country music was in her bones, but she never told her family until recently that she loved to sing. She surprised her family with her singing ability on an appearance on Telemiracle three years ago.
“I took voice lessons on my own, independently. I went home and told Mom and Dad that I was auditioning for Telemiracle,” explained Tluchak.
Naturally, they wondered what her talent was. She admitted to them that she was going to sing on the provincially televised talent fundraiser.
“They couldn’t believe it, so on the way to Telemiracle they finally asked me to sing because they were (thinking) now would be the best chance to before you hop on stage,” chuckled Tluchak.
To say her parents were surprised at her talent would be an understatement.
Fast forward a few years, she has sung at various events around Saskatchewan, participated in the 620 CKRM Proudly Saskatchewan Showcase which led to a performance on the main stage at Country Thunder, and she’s now celebrating her first big release to country radio titled “Crushin’ on You.”
The song revolves around a character who’s crushing on someone at a bar and tries to begin a conversation with that person.
“It’s really special to me because mainly because my musical inspiration wrote the song for me. Jess Moskaluke is a Saskatchewan country music artist and I have looked up to her ever since the start of my career and, with Jess, she’s such a down to earth person,” smiled Tluchak. “When I had the opportunity to get this song from her, she was so willing to give it to me. She hadn’t even heard me sing before and she entrusted me with this song and I put a really country spin on it and I released it so proudly.”
