**Voters in Regina Northeast go to the polls on Wednesday, September 12 to elect a new MLA. The seat became open when the SaskParty’s Kevin Doherty resigned from politics. 620 CKRM will be giving you some insight into the six candidates seeking the seat leading up to byelection day. **
To this point, no member of the Western Independence Party of Saskatchewan had a seat in provincial government.
On September 12th, one man is hopeful that will change.
Mark Regel is the party’s candidate for the seat in Regina Northeast and he believes this election is important.

“I think it’s going to send a signal to the big three parties that there is other parties that can do the job and if they can’t do the job, we can.”
One of the issues Regel wants to address is daycare, as he said a better system of daycare is needed.
“There’s a lot of people that need daycare and they can’t afford it,” he said. “They want to go to work and they aren’t able to go to work because all the money they make goes to daycare.”
