The Saskatchewan Party was the latest party to hold the seat of Regina-Northeast in the Legislature.
After Wednesday, they’re hoping it stays that way.
A by-election is going in the region on September 12th to fill the seat of Kevin Doherty, who announced his departure from politics in March 2018.
The man looking to replace him is Gary Grewal, who’s been long admired the current governing party.

“I always like the policies of the Saskatchewan Party,” he said. “If I go 10, 12 years back, nobody knew where Regina and Saskatchewan was. And since the Saskatchewan Party came into government, Saskatchewan has progressed so much.”
As a businessman, Grewal pointed to the success his enterprise and he experienced upon the party forming government as the reason why he became attracted to the party.
Now, he’s trying to attract the attention and votes of consitutents, who’ve been talking to him about issues.
“The carbon tax has been coming up often from people in Regina-Northeast. It is clear that the voters do not want the carbon tax.”
This is an important election, as up until 2011, the riding had a Saskatchewan NDP MLA, something Grewal is well aware of.
“We know we have hard work ahead of us. I am up to the task to work as hard as possible to be the voice of Regina-Northeast.”
