The province’s Education Minister is opening up on the recent arbitration process with the Saskatchewan Teachers Federation.
An arbitrator recently awarded the STF a two year contract, one that doesn’t include a pay raise until after year one.
“It was the teachers who requested binding arbitration,” said Gord Wyant. “That was their right. They got binding arbitration and this was the result.”
Wyant said he invited the Saskatchewan Teachers Federation back to the bargaining table.

That, said Saskatchewan NDP’s Education Critic Carla Beck, is an invitation to sow divisions into the STF and teachers.
“We’re here today to say that the blame and the responsibility should be shouldered by the Minister, by the minstry and by this government, who have done nothing but sow cuts, distrust and mistrust within the education sector for years.”
