Saskatchewan farmers made good harvest progress during the past week despite some scattered rain showers.
Provincial crops analyst Daphne Cruise says 58 percent of the crop is in the bin, up from 39 percent last week.
She says harvest ranges from 82 percent in the southwest to 16 percent in the northwest.
Cruise says there is a wide range of yields.
She says the same farm is seeing some yield differences of 20 to 40 bushels an acre in some cases.
She says the contrast is due to scattered rainfall and seeding conditions.
Topsoil moisture is rated 25 percent adequate, 40 percent short and 35 percent very short.
Cruise says last week’s frost caused some crop damage on late-seeded crops and farmers are still assessing the loss.
SaskPower had 5 cases of farm machinery contacting electrical equipment over the past week and remind farmers to use caution around power lines.
