NDP MP representing the riding of Regina-Lewvan Erin Weir
A report in the Globe and Mail says despite being ousted from the NDP caucus over harassment allegations, Erin Weir is planning to once again seek the nomination in his riding of Regina-Lewvan.
Weir has told the paper it should be up to New Democrats in the riding to decide whether he remains a party member and not federal leader Jagmeet Singh. He then asks if Singh will ignore more than 2,000 NDP members in the riding and appoint his own candidate.
Weir was removed fron caucus earlier this year with Singh earlier this month saying he would not be welcome back into caucus and that any nomination for the federal election would not be endorsed by him because he believes in a safe workplace.
In the report, Weir is also critical of comments made from Singh as he dismissed a letter written to him by 67 former NDP MLA’s and MP’s supporting Weir. Singh said he would not be intimidated by people of “privilege”
