The province is looking at studying as to why some students are not finishing their programs.
Universities and colleges across the country normally do this on their own, but the province is looking into possibly developing programming
David Boehm with the Ministry of Advanced Education said it’s not always a bad thing when people don’t follow through with their classes.
“There’s several circumstances that can be involved. There are situations where it’s not necessarily a negative. Some people enter a program and then after the first decides, that it’s not for them.”
Boehm said the study will serve many purposes.
“It will allow us along with our institutional partners to develop programming to deal with particular issues. So, for us as a Ministry it might be how we provide students loans or even scholarship programs.”
Boehm says they will work in conjunction with post-secondary institutions for this study.
