Those going to SaskTel Centre for events will no longer be able to smoke on the property.
The new policy, which results in the removal of the current designated smoking area, takes effect Saturday and will be in place for all events.
SaskTel Centre officials say they are committed to providing guests and employees with the safest and most secure environment. As a result, guests will no longer be permitted to exit the venue to smoke, once the doors of the building are open to the public. Both smoking and vaping will be strictly prohibited in all areas, including all public outdoor spaces, meaning there will be no more designated smoking area.
“Our commitment has always been to provide the safest and most enjoyable fan experience, and we feel that making SaskTel Centre a smoke-free venue is a necessary part of that commitment,” said SaskTel Centre CEO Will Lofdahl.
With this move, SaskTel Centre now joins the list of professional venues that no longer allow smoking in any capacity. Those venues include Mosaic Stadium, Rogers Place in Edmonton, Rogers Arena in Vancouver and the MTS/Bell Centre in Winnipeg.
