With the Grenfell District Pioneer Home shutting down due to a mould infestation in the facility costing 33 people their job, the question is what now for the community?
According to the Town of Grenfell, a study is in place now that residents have been vacated, to see if the damage is either worth repairing or building a new facility.
Mayor Rod Wolfe said he spoke with residents and staff, and there is a mutual understanding of the decision to shut down the facility.
“They understand the reasonsing with the mould in the building. You want to keep safety at the upmost and highest level for both residents and staff.”
Some staff however are still looking for work since the closure, with some opting for an early retirement.
