Two separate reports peg Saskatchewan as being the worst province for job creation and employment, according to the provincial NDP.
Reports apparently indicate, fewer people are being hired in Saskatchewan, which the NDP say the governing party isn’t doing anything to reverse the current trend.
NDP Jobs Critic Vicki Mowat said on top of that, for those who do work, it’s hard to save money.
“Half of Saskatchewan workers are overwhelmed by debt,” Mowat said. “A quarter of them can not come up with $2,000 in a months time if there’s an emergency situation,” she added.
Minister of Trade and Export Development Jeremy Harrison responded, and said last month there were 2800 full time jobs created.
“There are challenges and headwinds in the labour market without question,” he said. “Those are largely created by policies of the federal government, but even with those headwinds that are real we continue to create jobs, we continue to create opportunity and the economy continues to grow,” Harrison said.
