Mental health awareness and education is the focus this year in the Saskatchewan capital for the Tim Hortons Smile Cookie campaign.
Funds raised through sales of the tasty treats will be going towards Understand Us Regina, which looks to educate youth and raise awareness of mental health.
In an interview with our sister station My 92.1 Regina, founder of Understand Us Jim Demeray noted a lot of cookies have been sold.
“Last year, the record was 66,000 for the whole week. By noon Friday, we’re at 71,866 cookies.”
However, there’s hope that number can get a little higher.
“We’re actually on our way to the goal 100,000 in week,” said Demeray. “So, hopefully we can continue this pace against there.”
