I am in no way, shape, or form an incredible cook but when I really put my mind to things I can actually create some decent dishes. Last weekend I went to a restaurant for brunch and I ordered the southwestern skillet which included taco seasoned ground beef, hash browns, green onions, tomatoes, eggs, peppers, and shredded cheese. I realized I could actually make this at home!
So, last night I attempted my version of the southwestern skillet and it actually turned out pretty well aside from too much beef and not enough taco seasoning and a disastrous broken egg situation all over the burner. I was pleased how it turned out! The thing is with cooking, the food always tastes great and we all feel happy after we eat but the cleanup isn’t nearly as enjoyable.
This is the time of year when spiders like to come indoors and my FEAR of spiders is well documented. There is no creature more disturbing and more evil than a spider. As I was cleaning up the the counter I let out a loud shriek that I’m 90 per cent sure all my fellow tenants heard in my apartment building because I was positive there was a large, threatening looking spider staring me down at the kitchen sink. This thing was HUGE and it looked like it wanted to fight.
Well, turns out it wasn’t a spider. As you can see in the picture above, it was the left over over tomato stem from the tomato I used in my southwestern skillet. So, I apologize to my neighbours for the high pitched scream that emanated from my apartment last night. You’ll be happy to know I will only be buying tomatoes with no stems from now on. It just goes to show you that appearances can be VERY deceiving.
