The Regina Humane Society’s latest adoption event was a success.
The week-long promotion where you could adopt an adult cat for free resulted in 22 cats and 42 kittens being adopted along with a number of dogs and puppies as well with a guinea pig and a rabbit also finding a new home.
The executive director of the Regina Humane Society is Lisa Koch. She says while many animals now have a new home and a family that will love them, there are still many animals to take care of at the shelter.
Although we sent 88 animals out last week, we still have over 100 animals at the shelter waiting for owners to come pick them up.” Koch said. “These adoption events are ones we love doing even though it is a money loser for us as you save 700 dollars in free spay/neuter surgery, complimentary vet exam and other perks which does make it tough on our bottom line. It is because of people generously donating things and helping us in any way they can that we can continue to provide care to these animals and get them homes knowing their space will likely be taken up quite quickly.”
