Regina police say one of its officers had to use a Taser on a dog while making an arrest on Thursday afternoon.
In a release, police say they were called around 2:30 to a home on the 1700 block of Montreal Street after getting reports of a weapons offence. Officers were in the process of arresting a 19-year-old man with a knife when a large dog acting aggressively entered the scene and ran at an officer. The animal was not related to the suspect’s arrest.
The taser was deployed at the dog forcing it to run away. The animal could not be located by police afterward.
