SaskEnergy has applied to the rate review panel for a decrease effective April 1st 2019.
SaskEnergy President Ken From said falling commodity prices are the reason.
“In fact, it’s so traumatic that what we’re going to ask the panel to do is not wait for their final decision in April, but we’re hoping to lower the rate by November 1st.”
The request would see rates for the average homeowner in Saskatchewan decrease overall by 8.8 percent, saving 81 dollars a year.
The proposed April 1st, 2019 Commodity Rate of $2.65/GJ is the lowest SaskEnergy has offered customers since 1999.
