National Teen Driver safety week is October 22nd to 28th, and SGI is running a social media contest featuring a goat.
The insurance company’s Tyler McMurchy said GOAT in this case stands for Gross, Obnoxious And Thoughtless, something he said you don’t want to meet on the road.
“He drives impaired, he drives distracted, he doesn’t follow speed limits, he’s just generally a disaster,” McMurchy said. “What we’re asking teens as part of the lead-up to this National Teen Driver safety week is ‘don’t be like the goat.'”
Wait a second… is that a GOAT on that SGI poster?
Yep – and he’s here to show teen drivers what NOT to do while behind the wheel: https://t.co/zME2xRp7zV.

McMurchy explained the social media campaign.
“If you search #StopTheGoat, you can see our posts, all a teen driver has to do, anybody between the ages of 15 and 19 in Saskatchewan can enter, you just have to like one of our posts, and you’re automatically entered to win one of 10 $250 Visa gift cards.”
Police in select locations will also be distributing “positive tickets” and swag to teens who display safe driving habits.
