Many will make their way to Mosaic Stadium on this Thanksgiving Monday to watch the Riders play the Edmonton Eskimos this Thanksgiving Monday.
In 2020, those same people and many more are hoping they’ll be back at the stadium watching the 2020 Grey Cup game.
As Riders CEO Craig Reynolds announced on the SportsCage one week ago, the Roughriiders are bidding for the game to return to Regina in 2020.
Many are excited about this, including the city’s mayor, Michael Fougere.
“It’s an incredible opportunity,” he said. “This is another chance to show that we can put on a good Grey Cup, but we have our new stadium too, which is really, I think the best stadium in Canada, probably one of the best in North America.”
Once the new Mosaic Stadium was built, it was common knowledge that a game with the gravitas and magnitude of the Grey Cup brings should come back to Saskatchewan.
“I’m not surprised we’re doing this, I’m glad we’re doing it,” said Fougere.
