Yesterday morning, my wife and I put together a shopping list, which is par for the course on the last day of a weekend. Seeing as we needed some buns for our supper last night I headed over to the grocery store that has a bakery in it. I usually don’t like going there because most of the people who work the register seem to be a very grumpy lot. Very seldom do I ever get a smile, but because of the bakery, I’ll grin and bear it.
I only had three things in total that I had to pick up at this particular store. When I got in line to pay for my groceries, there were already two people in front of me, with full carts and only one register open. Great.
Usually if this happens I’ll just go to the self-checkout counters and be done and out the door in a flash. However, I had buns, and I haven’t quite figured out how to run the buns through the self-checkout. I looked around to find someone who could show me how to do that, but the only employee that was around was currently busy ringing through a million items in front of me.
I just hate it when there is only one register open and there is a long line of shoppers waiting patiently to pay for their groceries.
So, I stood there, waiting, and waiting, and waiting, cursing under my breath at the fact that I never learned how to pay for buns at the self-checkout!
That will definitely be my next lesson the next time I’m in that store.
