Federated Co-Op is reporting huge demand for propane across the prairies, as farmers look to dry crops hit by rain and snow.
A Co-Op spokesman says semi’s are lined up for hours at gas plants and terminals waiting to be loaded.
In the Melfort area, Co-Op has sold twice the 10 year average last month.
Although Melfort is currently the busiest area for Co-op propane sales, Keith Morin said there are also high demands in Saskatoon, Yorkton and Meadow Lake branches in Saskatchewan. In Alberta, the Edmonton and Grasslands branches are also busy, while in Manitoba the Brandon, Winnipeg and Carman branches are extended as they supply propane for corn drying.
