The Regina Public Library was open on Thanksgiving Monday, and will continue to be open on public holidays for the time being.
Only two branches remained closed, those being Connaught and Glen Elm, two that are normally closed on Mondays.
Marketing and Communications Manager Colleen Hawkesford said the library wanted people’s opinions on being open on public holidays.
“We wanted to get a sense of whether people would like our locations to be open on Public holidays, and what better way to do that than a pilot-approach?”
Hawkesford said Monday’s Rider game may or may not have had an impact on numbers.
“It could have been that the Rider did affect our numbers, we can’t say for sure, but we are going to be open in the afternoon of Remembrance day as well, so we will have information on that.”
Hawkesford said she’s unaware of another major city whose library is open on public holidays.
