The Saskatchewan Roughriders laid an egg in Winnipeg Saturday.
The Blue Bombers beat the Riders 31-0 ending a three game win streak and delaying plans of clinching home-field for a playoff game.
Winnipeg, who has now won four in a row, put this one away early as they led 14-0 after 15 minutes
On the 2nd possession of the game, Zach Collaros threw a pass that was caught by Kyran Moore, but Bombers linebacker Adam Bighill stripped the ball away with it landing in the arms of Anthony Gaitor who returned it 45 yards for a touchdown. Moments later, Matt Nichols hit Darvin Adams on a 71 yard pass-and-run touchdown.
The loss was also a costly one as two players, Dariusz Bladek and Mic’hael Brooks, were taken off on a cart with lower-body injuries.
The Riders are now 10-6 on the season. They will be in Calgary to face the Stampeders October 20 before ending the regular season with a home game against BC on the 27th.
- The shutout is the first for a Riders team since August of 2014. Winnipeg had not recorded a shutout since 2006
- Bombers safety Taylor Loffler had two interceptions
- The Riders have not scored an offensive touchdown in 145:30
- The two teams played a scoreless second half as the Bombers led 31-0 after 30 minutes
