Kids at a Regina high school is doing their part to help out the less fortunate.
Students at Michael A Riffel raised over 50,000 pounds of food for the Regina Food Bank, who picked up the donations Friday.
School chaplin Patrick Roth said students are showing the spirit of generosity.
“We’ve had amazing students,” he said. “We’ve had two individual students who literally brought in five thousand pounds, individually themselves.”
For some students, it’s the teachers who’ve been catalysts throughout the whole process.
“It all start with Mr. Roth and Miss Perrault,” said Jaxon Roth, a grade 12 student who participated in the food drive. “They make it really easy for the students to give them their money and food.”
Over the past number of years, the school’s donated more than 100,000 pounds of food to the Regina Food Bank, which, according to a release, is more than any other Canadian high school.
