Until November 2nd, Shoppers Drug Marts will be raising money for women’s shelters across Canada, with their Growing Women’s Health Campaign.
In Regina, Sofia House will be receiving donations.
Tmira Marchment, Sofia House’s Executive Director said fundraisers like this one are a tremendous support for a group like their’s.
“It helps us so much, it gets our name out there in the community so more people can come and help women and children that need the support services the most,” Marchment said. ‘We’re really thankful to have this opportunity,” she added.
The goal is to raise $30,000 in Regina, something Marchment feels is easily attainable.
Lisa McIntosh, with Shoppers Drug Mart said they discussed their options and felt Sofia House was the best organization to support this year.
“We discussed as a group or collective to determine which women’s organization in Regina really did impact us,” McIntosh said. “We’ve had our own employees that have benefited and we really found that they have a great presence in and around Regina, they really are a great organization to support,” McIntosh added.
Donations can be made by purchasing a leaf for a toonie, a butterfly for five-dollars, an apple for 10-dollars or a bird for 50-dollars.
Purchased icons are then displayed on a tree in the store.
