Saskatchewan Stock Growers applaud new market access for Canadian livestock in southeast Asia.
The federal government has announced new market access for live cattle exports to the Philippines, as well as sheep and goat genetics exports to the Philippines and Indonesia.
Stock Growers general manager Chad MacPherson says it is important to expand Canadian livestock markets to diversify the customer base.
He says Canada has some of the best livestock genetics in the world and any improved market access is welcome.
The market for live cattle exports to the Philippines is estimated to be valued at 8 million dollars, and exports of sheep and goat genetics to the Philippines and Indonesia add up to 100 thousand dollars a year.
