The Southland Mall says it will not be holding a Santa Claus Parade as it has done for the past many years.
In a release, mall management says in lieu of the parade, they will be focusing on community engagement and will be welcoming the entire Regina community to the mall to celebrate and support charitable initiatives.
Mall spokesperson Rick Dillabaugh said they are taking a new approach.
“A lot of our centres are becoming more and more community-oriented as they move forward, as they move from serving more of the community needs and felt this year with Christmas, we wanted to be more engaged in direct community efforts.”
The release goes on to say the mall will decorate, celebrate, welcome Santa and create a memorable and magical adventure for everyone.
That release adds that while Southland Mall will not host the Santa Parade this year, they hope to have all of our community partners that previously participated in the parade, on board with us to assist in this transition and focus our efforts on supporting families in need across the City of Regina.
