The Yorkton RCMP held a town hall meeting Thursday night, fielding questions and providing crime trend updates.
Sgt. Jeff Simpson said by hosting meetings like this it will strengthen the relationship with the community.
“It’s an opportunity for the RCMP to meet with the community and the different individuals in the community to discuss any concerns that they may have, and provide them with an opportunity to ask questions that they may have in regards to a number of topics.”
Simpson said these meetings will improve interactions with RCMP Members and community members.
“These things are being hosted across the province, it’s an initiative and a priority for the RCMP to strengthen those relationships with our communities,” Simpson said. “To open up that two-way dialogue, and it’s absolutely essential for us to be connected to the people that we serve, and to make sure hat we’re delivering the best police service possible to the areas that need the attention the most.”
This was the second such meeting, as the first one was held back in February.
