The future of the Santa Claus Parade in Regina just became much clearer.
It will go this year.
Southland Mall recently announced they’d no longer be putting on the event. That news led Wheaton Kia to step and sponsor the 2018 parade.
“As long as I can remember, we’ve had the Santa Claus Parade here,” said Greg Gilbertson, the dealership’s General Manager.
Gilbertson said the Wheaton Automotive Group in the city has been a long time supporter of the parade.
“We put a little bit of thought into and figured that as a dealership, we could definitely try and keep the spirit alive.”
The parade is still slated to go November 18th at 1 pm. Where it goes though will be a different matter, as Gilbertson said there will be some changes to the route.
“We’ll move to north Albert from the south end,” he said. “We’ll start at our dealership at Avonhurst Drive and head north down Albert Street.”
Police, according to Gilbertson, have already given approval to the revised parade route.
A Facebook page has been set up for the event for those interested in participating in the parade.
