Several prominent members of Saskatchewan’s legislature took the time to get their flue shot Tuesday morning in Regina.
Premier Scott Moe, Deputy Premier Gord Wyant, and Minister of Health Jim Reiter were all in attendance to get the shot.
Minister Reiter said it was important for him to get the shot.
“I think is sends the right message to the province,”Reiter said. “We’re getting into flu season now, there’s especially demographics that are at higher risk, and I think it’s important that everybody get their flu shot.”

Reiter said despite the ineffectiveness of last year’s vaccine, people should still get the shot.
“When they are designed every year by the experts, they do their best to try to accommodate and anticipate what the flu season is going to be,” Reiter said. “Some years they’re more effective than others, you never know for sure until it’s over, but there’s still a level of effectiveness, even last year even though people were critical about it.”
Reiter added that it’s easier for people to get the shot than ever before with pharmacies able to distribute the flu shot.
