Recently I purchased my first house. As with any first house there are always things you’d like to improve upon or change from the previous owners. Overall it’s in very good shape however I noticed something immediately when I did the walk through. No carpet. I noticed that this is not uncommon because many houses I toured through had the carpet removed and laminate, hardwood, or linoleum flooring had been installed. Out of the 14 homes I looked at I think there were two that actually had carpet still in them.
Let me be clear. I LOVE CARPET. It’s warmer, it’s much more comfortable, and it just seems to finish a living room off. Fortunately I do have carpet in the bedroom but nothing in the living room and, boy, have I really noticed a difference. Now that we’re heading into the winter months I really appreciate the days I had the warmth of carpet on the floor. Plus, after a long day of standing on location on cement, carpet feels much nicer on the feet and legs at home. Additionally, it’s much more fun to lay on, eat chips, and watch He-Man reruns on Netflix. I’m 32 and have no issue admitting to that!
Now, I respect why some get rid of it. If one has pets, dander can be a real problem in carpet no matter how strong of vacuum cleaner one has! Some argue their allergies are much worse with carpet and have noticed a big, positive, change after getting rid of it. Luckily none of that applies to me because I’m pet and carpet allergy free!
So, the carpet debate continues on. Like the question in the title asks, where do you stand on carpet in the house? Yes or No?
