If you’re out and about on Saskatchewan roads and highways this weekend, you might see more RCMP vehicles.
Corporal Rob King with F-Division said Mounties will be running a High Visibility Enforcement initiative tomorrow and Sunday.
“Generally, the ultimate goal is making the highways safer,” King said. “We want to make people aware that we are going to be out patrolling, we are going to be out doing stop-checks this weekend looking for things like impaired drivers.”
Corporal King said while they’ll focus on impaired, distracted and aggressive driving along with seat-belt use, the “Big 4” isn’t the only target.
“Vehicle maintenance, having the proper documents, having your driver’s licence, having it there ready, having your registration properly done,” King said. “All of those things contribute to making the roadways safer.”
RCMP also remind motorists to slow to 60km/h when passing emergency vehicles.
