Regina residents will have the opportunity to learn about oil refinery safety on Wednesday evening.
A community discussion called “Refinery Safety and You” will take place.
Sean Tucker, with the University of Regina says this isn’t just a night for refinery workers themselves, but rather an opportunity for everyone to learn.
“Absolutely, it’s an opportunity for residents of Regina to learn and ask questions about the refinery, this event is for the whole community,” Tucker said.
With safety protocols always changing and evolving, and and more and more urban refineries holding public forums, tonight is something Tucker hopes will become a regular event.
“Currently these forums don’t exist in Regina,” Tucker said. I certainly hope we can move in the direction with the Co-op Refinery to have more of these opportunities for sharing information and transparency purposes and accountability,” he added.
The community discussion will be held at the University of Regina’s Research and Innovation Centre in Room 119, from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m.
Co-op will not be represented at the forum.
