Payton Sernick is just 10 years old, but the Estevan girl has made so many trips to Alberta that she has lost count.
Sernick is a two-time cancer survivor and is the ambassador for this year’s Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital Foundation Radiothon presented by CIBC Wood Gundy that continues Friday at Hill Tower 2 in downtown Regina with 620 CKRM and our two sister stations–The WOLF 104.9 and MY92 broadcasting live.
The radiothon is to raise money for the hospital which should be open in Saskatoon by this time next year as construction is into its final stages.
Funds raised this year will support critically needed equipment for pediatric surgical suites which will allow parents to stay with their children.
Sernick, who has had many operations and a bone marrow transplant since first learning she had cancer at the age of 6, says
“It will help a lot of kids and their families because of a lot of kids need it really bad.” Sernick said on Wednesday. “Some kids need immediate surgery while others need it even though they aren’t as bad. It is just something that is needed.”
Anyone wanting to donate can call 352-KIDS or 1-888-808-5437 or drop by in person at Hill Tower 2.
