APAS is asking Ottawa to extend the use of strychnine poison on farms.
President Todd Lewis says farm groups meet Thursday with the federal Pest Management Regulatory Agency in Saskatoon to push for continued use of strychnine.
He says strychnine is the best way to control gophers.
Lewis points out gophers can seriously damage crops and pasture.
He adds there are rigorous controls on the use of strychnine.
