Winners of the Hospital of Regina Foundation Home Lottery are being announced.
Garth Robson is taking the 1.1 million dollar grand prize showhome and $30,000 cash. Robson says he was not expecting to win. “I didn’t know what to do. Didn’t know if I should be laughing or crying, didn’t know what to do. And in the meantime, we had all kinds of friends and relatives phoning us to tell us that we won.”
Robson says this is the second time he has won a prize through this lottery since its inception, having previously taken home a digital camera.
The money raised from this year’s lottery will be going towards two ultrasound machines, a CT scanner, refurbished MRI and radiology upgrades at the Regina General Hospital. Robson says is important to him and his wife Bev. She says, “this week our grandson had an injury so he had to have an image of his leg take.” Garth adds that it effects everybody. “Who hasn’t had been in for an x-ray? I know I’ve had MRI’s done and the more accurate the pictures they get, the better it is for the patients.”
The Robson’s currently live on an acreage in Craven and have not decided if they will be moving into the new home.
Early Bird prize winners Laurie and Rick Kosloski from Fort Qu’Appelle is has won a Katepwa lakeview cottage, pontoon boat and $5,000 cash. Laurie says she has supported the lottery for the past 20 years because it’s such a great organization, and this year the equipment being purchased from the funds will help her family. Rick says 3-months ago he was diagnosed with cancer. “All this stuff that they are putting in hospitals sure helps get us through.”
The Kosloski‘s say they are planning on spending some family time at the new cottage this Christmas.
Other winners include David Chernoff from Regina taking home $359,350 from the 50/50 Draw. A full list of winners will be posted on hrfhomelottery.com on November 22nd.
