Two Regina men are are facing drug-related charges a traffic stop.
Regina Police say at about 11:40pm on Wednesday, patrol members saw a vehicle and occupants behaving in suspiciously in the 700 block Robinson Street. The patrol car followed the vehicle in order to initiate a traffic stop and noted that the driver of the vehicle was driving in an erratic manner. The officers conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle in the 3700 block of Sherwood Drive.
Police reports say the driver refused to produce identification, a driver’s license and registration to police. He was initially detained for obstruction. While the officers were interacting with the driver, the passenger of the vehicle was holding three cell phones, which range repeatedly. The passenger was also wearing a satchel around his neck.
This observation, earlier observations and the actions of both the driver and passenger led to their arrests. A search of the satchel yielded a large quantity of methamphetamine, as well as a significant amount of cash.
33-year-old Alan Matthew Land and 39-year-old Michael Paul are jointly charged with Possession of the Purpose of Trafficking and Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime over $5,000. Both men made their first court appearances in Provincial Court on Thursday.
