I need a little help this morning. Some may argue I need a lot of help, but that’s a whole other story! Last night I thought about growing my beard out out once again. For the past few years I have had this clean shaven, baby face with a few wrinkles here and there.
The first (and last) time I grew out my beard was back in 2014-15 for a charitable event. I started December 21st, 2014 and kept it until May 1st, 2015 when it got shaved off in front of the community of Drumheller, AB. The beard ended up getting around $500 which went towards Lyme Disease research that spring. It looked good because I maintained it properly thanks to strict grooming practices I adopted. I never wanted that wiry look where it appears like I jut stepped out of a bath with an electric toaster. I’m sure you know what I’m talking about.
At first I despised the beard. I couldn’t wait to shave it off because I thought it looked TERRIBLE and it was so incredibly itchy! On top of all that, I was worried I was spilling food in it. Nothing worse than going to an event with half of a chicken nugget stuck in one’s facial hair. Over time I actually got used to it until I found myself stroking my beard in times of thinking and reflection. I looked like a very wise man, however we all know appearances can be deceiving don’t we?
Yes, I was actually sad the day it got shaved off. I had literally grown attached to it in more ways than one and I promised I wouldn’t do it again. Yet, here we are. November 2018 and I’m thinking about that darn beard again! So, this is where you come in. Should I or shouldn’t I grow out the beard?
