After initially pleading not guilty to a charge of marijuana possession, former Rider Duron Carter is now pleading guilty and getting an absolute discharge
Carter was not in a Saskatoon courtroom when his trial on the matter was to begin today, but his lawyer made the guilty plea on his behalf.
The 27 year old, who now plays for the Toronto Argonauts,. was charged with simple possession on February 1 after flying into Saskatoon from the U.S.
Upon arrival at the airport, a customs officer discovered almost 7 grams of marijuana in Carter’s carry-on luggage.
Carter also has to pay a surcharge of 100 dollars and may have problems travelling back and forth outside Canada if he chooses to do so.
